Three Bradford Council run parks have been named among the best in the country.

Roberts Park, Saltaire, Central Park, Haworth, and Lister Park, Manningham, have all retained the prestigious Green Flag Award for 2017/18.

The Green Flag Award scheme is run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government, and is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK.

Roberts Park won the award for the fourth time and Lister Park has now met the standard required to receive the Green Flag Award for 13 years consecutive years.

Lister Park received extra praise for being completely litter free at the time of the judges’ visit.

Coun Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Environment, Culture and Sport, said: “This Green Flag status recognition is excellent news and an official ‘Well Done’ to all those Council staff and volunteers who have worked so hard to maintain such high standards.

“I know that there is a lot of time and effort put by ‘Friends Of’ groups as well as staff in supporting our parks.

“We are fortunate to have such beautiful parks in our district and they are great places to spend time with family and friends, even during the autumn and winter months.”

After judging earlier this year, Harold Park, in Low Moor and Peel Park, Undercliffe, were also told they had retained their Green Flag status.
