Great Horton Road was brought to a standstill last night as Pakistan cricket fans took to the streets to celebrate their teams win against India.
Police officers and their vehicles were hit by eggs, waterbombs and broken bottles as they tried to get traffic moving.
A car was seized and impounded after police officers witnessed the driver carrying out wheelspinning and smoking the road.
PC Cahill, Outer City Ward Officer said, “Congratulations to the Pakistan Cricket Team, clearly we have some passionate fans in the Bradford District.
“Whilst a majority of the celebrations were in good spirits there were individual’s that thought it was appropriate to egg and waterbomb officers and their vehicles.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local Councillors that assisted and other members of the community that assisted with traffic directions and keeping people safe without notice.”
One resident who didn’t wish to be named said, “These idiots don’t live on Great Horton Road so don’t know how annoying it is, especially when your kids are trying to sleep as they have school in the morning.”
