Police in Shipley are asking residents to check their security after issuing a warning that a male is being released from prison tomorrow.
The man who has served a sentence for burglaries and stealing cars will be supported by probation and drug workers in an attempt to address the root causes of his offending.
He has been issued with a night time curfew and will be on prison licence.
However the police are warning members of the public that he breaks into houses by snapping locks to steal car keys.
Sgt Green said “Although we are working together to monitor and support this male address his offending causes, I urge people to check the security on their houses. This males historical offending was to snap locks and steal cars keys along with the cars.
“Is your lock up to scratch? Do you have sash jammers ? Do you have and use and alarm? Are your car keys out of view? Do you park the car on the driveway if you have one or even better in the garage? The car is more valuable than the items we usually store in our garages but few of us put our cars in there. Let’s protect our things that we work hard for. ”
