Bradford’s SkillsHouse, the training and recruitment partnership, is starting its seasonal recruitment for many of the retail and hospitality employers across the District, including Bradford’s shopping centres.
SkillsHouse will be holding a number of recruitment events in the city during September and October 2017. Local people who are looking for work are urged to step forward and apply for seasonal vacancies.
SkillsHouse is part of Bradford Council’s innovative Get Bradford Working Programme and is supported by Jobcentre Plus, Westfield (the developers of The Broadway in Bradford city centre), People 1st, the Department for Work and Pensions as well as local colleges. It offers a one-stop-shop solution principally for recruitment, but also provides quality training, notably in the internationally recognised WorldHost programme.
More than 900 local people have started work as a result of Bradford’s SkillsHouse partnership. A further 800 people have achieved qualifications through quality training in retail, hospitality and WorldHost Customer Service.
Cllr Imran Khan, portfolio holder for education, employment and skills, said: “It’s excellent news for people who are looking for work that SkillsHouse is able to offer support with retraining and job opportunities. Supporting local people into employment and giving them new skills is a key priority for the Council. It’s also a good way of contributing to the great experience visitors have when they come to our district.”
