Motorcyclist dies after colliding with a pensioner in Baildon

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision involving a motorcycle in Bradford on Saturday.

The Major Collision and Enquiry Team would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident which took place at about 8.36pm on Saturday December 29 on the A6038 Otley Road in Baildon.

It occurred after a Yamaha CBR 125 machine was in collision with a 60-year-old male pedestrian while the male was in the road.

The 18-year-old rider fell from his bike and suffered life threatening injuries. He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he died on Sunday.

The pedestrian was also seriously injured, but has now been discharged from hospital after treatment.

Sergeant Carl Quinn of the Major Collision and Enquiry Team, said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries into this fatal collision and I am keen to speak with anyone who saw what took place.

“I would also like to speak with anyone or who may have seen either the pedestrian or motorbike on Otley Road just prior to the incident.

“Anyone who saw what happened or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact the Major Collision and Enquiry Team on 101.”
