On Saturday 10 November, The Broadway Shopping Centre hosted a star-studded, spectacular display of lights for the Festive Launch of ‘Sparkling Bradford’ – the official start of the city’s seasonal calendar.
X-Factor stars Rebecca Ferguson and LMA Choir performed alongside local singing sensation Thomas Lillywhite, with an appearance from Love Island finalist star Wes Nelson.
Dixon Music Primary School, Shearbridge were crowned winners of the Festive Pitch Battle in partnership with Pulse 1, fighting off competition from five other local schools in a one-off singing competition to win a £1,000 cash prize.
Ian Ward, General Manager of The Broadway, said: “‘Sparkling Bradford’ certainly kicked off with a bang this weekend and it was fantastic to see so many people from around the city join in the festivities.
“Christmas in Bradford this year looks set to be better than ever, with a huge amount on offer right across the city. Whether you’re getting together with friends and family or looking to do a spot of Christmas shopping, there’s something for everyone.”
Sparkling Bradford has been developed by The Broadway Bradford, Visit Bradford, Bradford Council, Made in Bradford and the University of Bradford. The initiative encompasses all of this season’s festive events and experiences, highlighting the district as a Christmas destination for people of the North.
The Broadway is hosting a series of family-friendly festive fun events across the Christmas period, with activities taking place throughout November and December.
